Role
Software Developer, Contract (Volt)
Responsibilities
After the closure of Crave Entertainment’s Seattle studio, I took a contract gig programming and tuning flight panels for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000. I was fortunate to work on almost every aircraft panel, except the Boeing 777 and the Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde. My favorite planes to fly were the Mooney Bravo and Cessna 172, candidly because they were both pretty easy!
Programmed and tuned nearly every aircraft panel
Responsible for ensuring panel data, settings, and art elements were in source control
Responsible for testing and fixing defects in my panels
All in all, I enjoyed my time at Microsoft and eventually had to choose between a spot on Combat Flight Sim 2 and moving to Austin to work on Origin’s Privateer Online. I chose Privateer and although our promising MMORPG never entered development, my role there paved the way for working on Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.
