Role

Software Developer, Contract (Volt)

Responsibilities

After the closure of Crave Entertainment’s Seattle studio, I took a contract gig programming and tuning flight panels for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000. I was fortunate to work on almost every aircraft panel, except the Boeing 777 and the Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde. My favorite planes to fly were the Mooney Bravo and Cessna 172, candidly because they were both pretty easy!

  • Programmed and tuned nearly every aircraft panel

  • Responsible for ensuring panel data, settings, and art elements were in source control

  • Responsible for testing and fixing defects in my panels

All in all, I enjoyed my time at Microsoft and eventually had to choose between a spot on Combat Flight Sim 2 and moving to Austin to work on Origin’s Privateer Online. I chose Privateer and although our promising MMORPG never entered development, my role there paved the way for working on Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.
