Design Director / Design Team Leader

Responsibilities

As the studio Design Director, I established the vision, led the design team, and helped create a fully playable demo for this unannounced action-adventure sandbox game with famous characters. 

  • ​Player champion on a third-person metaverse game with beloved characters from a high-profile IP holder

  • As the design stakeholder and Feature Owner, I led the Design Team and directed the player experience across all social spaces and game zones

  • As a design contributor, I built and delivered design pitches, created game design documentation and storyboards, engaged in hands-on prototyping in C#/Unity, and managed our partner asset libraries

  • As the Design Guild Leader, I recruited, mentored, and managed a diverse team of 10 game designers, level designers, UX designers, and technical designers.

  • We delivered an engaging, multiplayer game demo with a mix of sandbox and directed gameplay.

The project was paused while the IP holder worked out its metaverse strategy and that unfortunate timing ultimately led to a studio closure.

Game artwork below by Eric Arroyo, Fresh Pashe, and others from Author Digital’s Arcadia team. The characters, animation, and environments crafted by our art team made it a breeze to create a fantastic playable demo.

Description

CREATE - PLAY - SHARE

Our game combined action-adventure and sandbox gameplay where players could engage with the world and other players while assuming the role of their favorite characters.​

Players could create and customize their own virtual play spaces to enjoy with friends or share with the community. The could customize landscapes, add buildings, and populate their creations with playable game objects and interactive characters. In these spaces, players could run wild with their imagination , design unique and elaborate levels, races, or game challenges.​

The game encouraged social interaction through a mix of shared community spaces, multiplayer game modes, and custom spaces shared with friends and family - "Toy Box" game spaces, neighborhood clubs, and your unique, customizable house.
